The Department of Social Defence is committed to facilitate the best
services to children and women in distress. This can be achieved by effective
linkage and Co-ordination between various Departments, Non Governmental
Organisations, Corporate Sectors, Community etc. Plenty can be done for this
group of underprivileged people by the Non Governmental Organisations and the
Corporate Sectors. To name a few activities
• Provide infrastructure
• Assistance for recreational facilities
• Sponsoring of programmes and events.
• Adoption of child care institutions.
• Support to pilot projects.
• Educational and vocational assistance to
children for higher studies.
• Contribution to Welfare Funds like the Tamil Nadu Welfare Fund
for the
rehabilitation of the victims of moral exploitation.
• Construction of new blocks and repairing of buildings.
• Job opportunities.
• Advocacy and awareness campaign.
• Counseling activities.
