All Child Care Institutions under the Department provide education upto middle school level except Government Childrens' Home for boy, Chengalpattu and Government Children’s’ Homes for Girls at Chennai, where education upto tenth standard is imparted within the campus. For pursuing further education from 11th and 12th standard or degree courses children are sent to normal schools/colleges run by education Department. Besides 30 seats have been reserved by the Government for the Children of these institutions in Government I.T.I , Chengalpattu, Madurai and Thanjavur. The department facilitates the children to continue their higher education. Accordingly children are also admitted to outside Higher Secondary School, Colleges, Industrial Training Institutes, Polytechnics and Professional Colleges.
