To provide rehabilitation, vocational training is also imparted to the children by trained teachers and instructors in respective trades.

The following vocational trades in job oriented courses and skill development training stressing the need of practical knowledge is imparted to the inmates in Children's/Special Homes, Vigilance/Protective Homes till their discharge. In Observation Home mat weaving and tailoring training are imparted. In the After care organisation for Boys, at Athur, Kancheepuram District, training is imparted in job-oriented trades to the discharged inmates. The courses offered in the premises of the Government After Care Organisation for Boys at Athur includes Electrical wiring, Automobile Mechanism and Computer Training. So far 189 students have been benefited under this scheme.

 

The inmates of After Care Organisation for Women at Vellore, are trained in Needle Work and Tailoring.
 

The aptitude of the children in the institutions are closely monitored to provide them both education and useful occupation. The children trained in the industrial unit are provided incentive at the following rates.

 

                   [1]   Skilled children at Rs.70/- per month
                   [2]   Semi skilled children at Rs.50/- per month
 

The incentive payment is saved and credited to the pocket money of the children every month.

LUMPSUM GRANT FOR VOCATIONAL TRAINEES
